Math Placement Test

The last day of Math Placement Testing for summer 2024 will be Wednesday, August 14th. Testing will then resume in October. Please check back for updates.

About the Math Placement Test

The Math Placement Test is administered via Accuplacer, a computerized test, and proctored by staff from the Center for Academic Success & Tutoring. Math tests are only available in-person and students receive up to 1 hour to complete the test in one sitting. Students will be required to answer 20 multiple-choice questions. The use of calculators is not permitted unless an accessibility accommodation was approved by the Disability Services Center (DSC) before the test date. Please contact the DSC for additional information on testing accommodations.

Prior to the test, students are strongly encouraged to view the General Placement Testing Information page for further information. To prepare for Accuplacer, students may complete free Accuplacer sample questions. Please be advised: there are three different Math tests available. At the start of the test, a background screening question will determine which single test will be administered based on the highest level math course needed at Farmingdale State College. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that they prepare for the correct test as once the test has been administered, there is no ability to restart the test.

Students who wish to use the built-in test accessibility features view the Accuplacer Accessibility Wizard Tutorial.
