Farmingdale's Institute for Lifelong Learning

Welcome to Farmingdale's Institute for Lifelong Learning!

Formerly known as the Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR), the newly reimagined Institute for Lifelong Learning (FILL) at Farmingdale State College builds on decades of success in serving adult learners and retirees. Today, FILL represents a bold expansion of that legacy, offering a broader, more inclusive range of programs designed for learners of all ages and stages of life.

Rooted in Farmingdale’s commitment to community engagement and applied learning, FILL provides non-credit courses, lectures, workshops, and special events that promote intellectual growth, creativity, and connection. Whether you’re a retiree seeking enrichment, an adult looking to develop new skills, or simply a curious mind eager to explore, FILL offers an inspiring environment to learn for the joy of it.

Led by Farmingdale faculty, local experts, and community partners, FILL’s programs span the arts, humanities, science, technology, wellness, and personal development.

Join us as we continue to celebrate the spirit of lifelong learning, where curiosity never retires.
