The Department of Aviation can help you "earn your wings" or prepare you for a career in a non-flight area of the incredibly diverse aeronautics industry.
The mission of the Department of Aviation is to provide affordable, high quality, and cost-effective programs in Aeronautical Science and Aviation Administration that will enable graduates to obtain entry-level positions as professional pilots and aviation administrators.
Farmingdale State College offers the largest collegiate Flight School in the Northeast Region and the only SUNY school to offer four-year degrees in Aviation. We have our own Aviation Flight Center, the primary hub for flight training, and features advanced aviation training devices. Our fleet consists of 17 aircraft that the College owns and operates. The Aviation Flight Center is less than 2 miles from the main campus, making it easy to get to.
Outside the Classroom
Students who are enthusiastic about the aviation industry are welcome to join student chapters of professional aviation organizations: The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) as well as Alpha Eta Rho, the professional aviation organization that prepares the aviation leaders of tomorrow.
