Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, is located on the banks of the Arno River and is surrounded by the rolling hills of Tuscany! The city welcomes students, scholars, artists, and travelers to explore her streets, marvel at spectacular works of art, literature, and cinema, and immerse themselves in a highly diverse and centuries-old culture. Students in Florence experience the city with others from around the world who share a passion for language, culture, and the Humanties.
FSC offers 3, 4, 6, and 12-week summer programs (details below).
Florence University of the Arts
- Florence University of the Arts offers a variety of courses in Italian language. culture, the arts, Business, and the Humanities.
- FUA-AUF provides on-site support, arranges housing, orientation, excursions and more
- Field trips, community engagement opportunities, and extracurricular activities allow you to experience Italy outside the classroom
Program Requirements
- GPA Requirement: 2.75 minimum
- Good disciplinary standing
- Open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors
- You will need to apply to FSC through Axiom AND to FUA-AUF through their portal
Academics
- All instruction is in English except the Italian language courses
- Summer program - there are several options (see, FUA Academic Calendar):
- 3-week program in Florence (3-6 credits)
- 4-week program in Florence (3-6 credits)
- 4-week (1+3) program consisting of 1 week in Rome followed by 3 weeks in Florence (6-9 credits)
- 6-week program in Florence (6-9 credits)
- 12-week program in Florence (up to 15 credits)
- There are many course offerings from Business and Communication to Fine Arts and Fashion, Food, Hospitality, Italian language, literature, and culture, Liberal Arts. See, FUA-AUF Course Offerings
* Please note that residences are often a 20 minute walk from classrooms.
** Several classes take place at sites and museums throughout Florence. Your meeting point may be 30 minutes from your residence. Also consider that it may take 30 minutes to get to your next class. Consult with the FUA staff to make sure you will not encounter scheduling conflicts.
Scholarship
- Fava Scholarship - This $1000 scholarship is for students who are accepted into the 4-week summer study abroad program to Italy
