November 5th Polling Site Information:
________________________
Ramp Up the Vote! is a nonpartisan voter outreach initiative spearheaded by the Office of Community Engagement at Farmingdale State College (FSC). The program aims to increase student participation in local, state, and national elections by fostering civic education, raising awareness about voter registration deadlines, and emphasizing the importance of every vote.
Through these efforts, Ramp Up the Vote! aims to cultivate a culture of civic responsibility at FSC, empowering students to become active participants in their communities and the democratic process. By offering accessible resources and support, the initiative helps students overcome common barriers to voting, ensuring that their voices are heard.
What we do
The initiative is designed to be inclusive, welcoming students from diverse political backgrounds to engage in the democratic process without partisanship. Key components of Ramp Up the Vote! include:
- Voter Registration Drives: Held regularly throughout the academic year, these events provide students with the opportunity to easily register to vote on campus. Trained volunteers help with the registration process and answer any questions about voter eligibility.
- Educational Workshops: Nonpartisan workshops and informational sessions are offered to educate students on the voting process, how to research candidates and issues, and how to find their polling place. These sessions are designed to demystify voting, especially for first-time voters.
- Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Campaigns: Near election time, the initiative ramps up efforts to remind students about upcoming elections, providing information on absentee ballots, early voting, and election day procedures. The GOTV campaign also encourages students to make a plan to vote.
- Collaborations with Campus Organizations: Ramp Up the Vote! partners with student clubs, academic departments, and other campus offices to increase its reach. By working together with various groups, the initiative builds a broad coalition of student leaders committed to civic engagement.
- Civic Engagement Ambassadors: Student ambassadors are trained to promote the initiative among their peers, engage in meaningful conversations about the importance of voting, and help fellow students navigate the process.
