Farmingdale Fest: Homecoming 2024

FSC Gathers for 2nd Annual Homecoming Weekend

Farmingdale State College (FSC) recently welcomed alumni, students, faculty, and staff to Farmingdale Fest, its 2024 homecoming celebration, which spanned several days and encompassed a variety of exciting school spirit events and activities.

“We are thrilled to present this year’s Farmingdale Fest schedule,” said Lukas Miedreich, FSC director of Student Activities. “We offered a variety of exciting events and continued a wonderful tradition of welcoming home our alumni, and our campus community, to celebrate FSC school spirit.”

Comedy Night at FSC

Farmingdale Fest kicked off Friday with a special reception for FSC alumni employees on the Alumni House - Smart Energy House patio. The evening soiree served to recognize the tremendous success of FSC's "Grow Your Own" employment program, which began in 2018.

The festivities continued on the Campus Center lawn with an assortment of food trucks and an outdoor stand-up performance from Trevor Wallace, a comedian, writer, and actor with a robust social media following of over 20 million fans.

Go Rams!

The FSC community gathered again on Saturday to cheer on its sports teams and enjoy a special tailgate event on the Great Lawn and adjacent student lot. The day included alumni lacrosse, baseball, and softball; in addition to collegiate women’s soccer and tennis.

The tailgate offered family friendly fun, including a DJ, food trucks, ice cream, inflatables, and a beer garden.

Student Perspectives

“As a student at Farmingdale, I think an event like this means the world to me,” said Jairo Orozco, ’25, an applied psychology major and sports management minor as well as FSC Student Government Association (SGA) president. “What we have been doing here is very special and very powerful, and I'm very grateful to be a part of it,” he added

“Having an event like this at Farmingdale just makes me realize how much I like being here and how the college puts not only efforts, but also funds into making these events possible,” said Melissa Vuong, ’26, a visual communications major who recently transferred from Stony Brook University. “I'm very humbled with how the college goes the extra mile to provide events like this for our students.”

“Being a student at Farmingdale, I feel like this does make me feel like Farmingdale is a school that is gaining a lot of reputation and gaining so much influence,” said Anderson Flores, ’25, a computer engineering major. “It’s showing that the students here are growing with the school, like their intelligence, and everyone wants to come to Farmingdale, experience all these events, and the education here. I'm proud of it.”

Samantha Barbara, ’25, a computer engineering major who recently transferred from Hofstra University, agreed that FSC did a great job getting students involved as a community “with each other, with the professors, and with other peers. [FSC] has a lot of opportunities that relate to top schools within the nation,” she added.
