Farmingdale State College (FSC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lauren Hillmann as FSC’s Director of Health and Wellness. Formerly FSC’s Health and Wellness Assistant Director and Acting Interim Director, she succeeds Kevin Murphy RN, MSN, following his appointment to the President’s Cabinet as Executive Dean of Student Engagement.

In this vital role, Hillmann will oversee Health and Wellness Center operations, establish key internal and external relationships, monitor department compliance with all guidelines and regulations, and ensure the continued top-quality care of FSC’s students. “A goal of mine is to educate and empower students to be their own advocate of their health and well-being,” Hillmann said regarding her priorities.

“Lauren’s strong management experience, especially as a Clinic Supervisor through FSC’s unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic response, make her an essential member of our FSC leadership team,” said Murphy. “She has proven she can rapidly make positive changes and drive success both in and out of a health care setting.”

Before joining FSC as a Clinic Supervisor in 2019, she previously served as an Assistant Nurse Manager and a Case Manager for North Shore University Hospital where, among many other responsibilities, she managed staffing needs for seven units within the Cardiac Service Line and collaborated with patients, their families and health care members to ensure quality patient care throughout hospitalization and discharge.

As an Adult Orthopedic/Vascular/Surgical Nurse at New York Presbyterian Hospital, she was involved with direct patient care and interacted with an interdisciplinary health care team on a daily basis.

“Coming from an extensive health care background, Lauren is the perfect choice to oversee the operations of Farmingdale’s Health and Wellness Center,” said Murphy. “She is an inspiring leader with advanced problem solving, team building, and supervisory abilities and we know she will serve Farmingdale well in this critical role.”
