Every spring, the Student Government Association (SGA) presents the college with a gift, and this year’s selection is not only decorative but makes a statement.

After getting some input from the Pride Club, the SGA purchased six rainbow-striped benches, which are outside Knapp Hall. Not only do they give all students a place to relax and regroup, but they represent FSC’s commitment to an inclusive environment for all.

SGA president senior Jake Iaccino suggested the benches, seeing them as both functional and meaningful. They were installed the third week of May.

“The benches will provide an additional location for student gathering,” he said. “When the weather is nice and warm, students like to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Giving students more seating options made the benches a great gift.”

They also are a powerful display of the college’s support for the LGBTQIA+ community. “I’m just so happy this got done and they are on campus,” Iaccino said.
