Jennifer Mignano-Brady, an English/Humanities adjunct assistant professor at Farmingdale State College, has won the State University of New York's coveted Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching.
"Adjunct faculty are a critical component as SUNY seeks to ensure access, completion, and success for all students and those honored with this year's award are the best of the best," said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. "Congratulations to those faculty receiving this award, which recognizes continued excellence in providing SUNY students with effective, motivational instruction that prepares them for success in college and career."
Mignano-Brady joined the School of Arts & Sciences at Farmingdale in 2010, specializing in writing and other subjects. Her educational background includes an MS in Adolescent Education/English from Mercy College, and a BA in Journalism from Iona College.
Mignano-Brady's teaching philosophy states: "If there is one thing I know for certain, is that our students care when we care. Our students excel when we as educators excel. This has been the greatest driving force in my professional career in academia."
Her students have made comments such as: "I knew from the first day of class that I never wanted to miss a class," and "You definitely fueled my love and interest in English that I haven't felt in a long time."
