"Reflect. Empower. Unite."

Pride Month is an annual celebration throughout the month of June that serves as a platform for advocacy, promotes legal and social changes to protect LGBTQ+ rights, and addresses ongoing challenges such as discrimination, violence, and inequality. In observance of Pride month, society affirms the dignity, rights, and phenomenal contributions of all LGBTQ+ individuals while fostering a more inclusive and equitable world.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, a pivotal moment in history (June, 1969) that served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the United States and world wide. One year later, during the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, activists in New York City marched through the streets of Manhatten in commemoration of the uprising.  In time, this march came to be known as the Gay Pride Parade.

Heritage of Pride works toward a future without discrimination where all individuals have equal rights under the law. Pride events have been and continue to play a crucial role in building a supportive, diverse, educational, inspirational and inclusive LGBTQ+ community, while reinforcing the importance of solidarity.

Overall,  Advocacy and awareness-raising activities remain to be a key element in the pathway to promoting LGBTQ+ rights and equality.

" We should indeed keep calm in the face of difference, and live our lives in a state of inclusion and wonder at the diversity of humanity." -- George Takei.  As we "Reflect. Empower. and Unite." throughout the month of June, manifest and embrace the words of George Takei.
