In Memoriam - 1919 Yearbook
This image is taken from the 1919 yearbook, The NYSSA, page 49. It is written in memory of and honor to students who died before graduation including Jack Bamforth who died in WWI, Charles Guliano, John J. Griffith, Irwin Giffhorn, and Lieutenant David R. Wright.
The page reads as follows:
In Memoriam
Jack Bamforth
When the bugle call of war came in the spring of nineteen seventeen, Jack Bamforth, one of our most pleasant comrades enlisted in our national army, in defense of our flag, country, and democracy, and in July 1918 we heard that he had made the supreme sacrifice. We all felt the loss we sustained. His honorable example will always be a shining star in our school's banner.
Death has also laid its grim hand on other members in the past three years:
Charles Guliano.........................Class of 1919
John J. Griffith............................Class of 1919
Irwin Giffhorn..............................Class of 1920
Lieutenant David R. Wright.........Class of 1921
We mourn their loss severely. May time heal the wounds in all our hearts as the days go by.
