"What Did I Say?" The Psychological Impact Of Microaggressions
Join FSC for an interactive workshop presented by Amandia Speakes-Lewis, PhD, LCSW-R, committed mental health clinician and college professor- to address the intersectionality of implicit bias, microaggressions, and how our behavior and opinions may have a psychological impact on those around us.
As professionals employed in multicultural organizations, one must become increasingly self-aware of their own individual experiences, values, and how it could influence or impact the overall work environment and daily interactions with colleagues.
Dr. Speakes-Lewis is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters degree and PhD in social work from Stony Brook University and Adelphi University. Additionally, she is a published author of multiple scholarly articles and book chapters related to mental health, microaggressions, DEI, and social emotional learning.
Overview:
- Explore how implicit bias influences microaggressions exhibited within the workplace.
- Differentiate implicit bias and microaggressions.
- Increase awareness of various behaviors and attitudes that may be interpreted as discriminatory.
