FSC's AAPI Affinity Group

 Mission

The Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Affinity Group fosters belonging, awareness, and support for AAPI employees and their allies at Farmingdale State College (FSC). The AAPI Affinity Group seeks to increase awareness and advocacy for the diverse needs of FSC’s AAPI community through educational, cultural, and social activities. The group aligns with FSC’s inclusive excellence and strategic goals, as well as provides leadership in addressing FSC’s AAPI faculty, staff, and student issues.

Vision

FSC AAPI Affinity Group envisions itself to be a leading organization at FSC to foster an inclusive, just, and equitable community in which AAPI members are valued, connected, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

Goals and Action Items

Goal 1. Connect and support AAPI employees and their allies at FSC.

  • Build an inclusive AAPI community on campus
  • Increase AAPI members' visibility in and outside FSC.
  • Address AAPI members' concerns and needs

Goal 2. Support AAPI students' academic success at FSC.

  • Identify and address barriers for AAPI students’ academic success at FSC.
  • Help improve AAPI students' recruitment and retention.
  • Support AAPI student clubs.

Goal 3. Promote AAPI cultures and heritages at FSC.

  • Organize events for AAPI Heritage Month on campus.
  • Promote AAPI educational, cultural, and social events.
