Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend
To Faculty & Staff:
Thanksgiving is fast approaching and, as has been the practice, we would like to use
this opportunity to conserve energy by essentially closing down campus operations
for the long weekend.
Nearly all campus buildings will be closed and temperatures in these buildings reduced.
Therefore, I request that classified (CSEA, PEF) employees, excluding Facilities Operations
staff and University Police deemed necessary by their supervisors, take the day after
Thanksgiving off and charge it to appropriate leave time (vacation, personal, or compensatory
time). This is also asked of Management/Confidential employees.
Your participation in this effort is strictly voluntary. Employees who wish to work
on Friday, November 29, can do so by obtaining approval from their supervisor to work
remotely.
UUP employees will observe Election Day on the day after Thanksgiving and should charge
the day as a floating holiday in the Time and Attendance System.
I hope this extended holiday weekend will give you the opportunity to spend more time
with your families and friends and bring additional enjoyment to your holiday. Please
accept my thanks and appreciation for your cooperation in our effort to conserve energy.
My very best wishes for a happy Thanksgiving and upcoming holiday season.
