Provost Search Underway
Dear Colleagues:
I am happy to share that the search for a new provost is up and running. With the
help of our search consultant partner AGB, a full prospectus that elaborates on the
criteria and qualifications for our next provost has been developed and will be posted
next week on the Human Resources employment opportunities webpage. Thank you to all
of you who participated in the meetings AGB held to help define these qualifications.
We hope to have a new provost on board by June 2025, allowing a few weeks overlap
with current Senior Vice President and Provost Laura Joseph.
Applications will be reviewed by the search committee with an aim to have "first cuts"
completed no later than early February 2025. The committee will then do preliminary
interviews to narrow the pool to three to four final candidates. Those candidates
will be invited to campus for on-site and open meetings. As we get closer to those
final meetings, we will invite all of you to participate in vetting our candidates,
whose credentials will be made available prior to each campus visit. Evaluative forms
allowing for anonymity will be available for each candidate. We will arrange group
sessions to provide opportunities for all members of our campus who wish to meet with
candidates. Your thoughts and opinions will be important and carefully considered.
Deep reference checks will be completed on the finalists.
I want to thank Dean Richard Vogel for serving as chair, as well as all members of
our search committee:

We will keep you posted as the search progresses. Please feel free to use the prospectus
in helping to attract strong candidates to this very important search. Note that the
deadline for applications is January 17, 2025.
Thank you all for your attention to this search and continuing our work to reimagine
our possibilities.
