Emergency Preparedness

There are several types of emergencies one could potentially face, each requiring specific responses and preparations. Natural disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods can cause a lot of damage. Health emergencies include things like pandemics or sudden serious illnesses. Accidents or injuries often need quick help from emergency services. There are also emergencies caused by people, such as acts of terrorism or public disturbances. It’s important to be ready for these emergencies by knowing what to do and having a plan. Please use the information on this site as a resource to help you through an emergency.

In preparation for an emergency consider the following:

In the event of an emergency:

  • For an emergency that has occurred on campus or concerns FSC
    • You will be notified by FSC via a campus wide email sent to your FSC email address
    • A notification will be sent out through the FSC Campus Alert System - RAVE - You must sign up in order to receive alerts
    • International students living on campus should follow Residence Life instructions during an emergency
  • If living off-campus, international students and their accompanying dependents (if any), should follow the instructions of state and local officials
  • International students must remain in contact with the International Office, and inform the staff of their whereabouts and emergency plans. This can be done by sending an email to international@farmingdale.edu
  • International students must do their best to take all necessary actions to maintain their student status in an emergency situation. Please read this article on Maintaining your status in emergency events
